How much corruption can our country tolerate before America becomes a failed state?

The Left and the Right have very differing views when it comes to interpreting what adherence to rule of law means and how it should be applied. The Left tends to support big government and promotes the increasing the intervention of government in various aspects of a citizen’s daily life. It also believes in governing with an eye to sponsoring policies based on promoting what is considered as Social Justice and adhering to the principles of political correctness.

Social Justice has at its roots in the philosophy of a grievance based society and was created on the idea that certain groups are historically at an inherent disadvantage and continue to be victimized by society. Social Justice is another name for different rules for different people, quite often based on any group’s ability to deliver votes in substantial numbers at election time for Democrats.

The Right on the other hand favors limited government, however, are proponents of enhancing the status and power of government in the realm of law enforcement and making all citizens accountable to the rule of law. Conservatives believe that a prerequisite of a civil and functioning society is that the rule of law is abided by all citizens regardless of their status in society. The rule of law should apply equally to candidates running for high office in this country and working in the government to ordinary folks living their daily lives in every corner of our country and walk of life.

It is increasingly evident that the observance of the rule of law which is a fundamental prerequisite of a successfully functioning society was literally under assault during the Obama Administration. A left leaning main stream media, members of the cultural elite and Academia working in conjunction with the leaders of the Democratic Party continue to display an overriding interest in maintaining their power even after their election loss in November. Together they represent the interests of an entrenched permanent government and corporate elitist establishment called by many the Deep State.

In plain sight, these participants are vehemently opposing duly elected President Trump in so many destructive ways that are beyond the normal bounds of acceptable political discourse in a properly functioning democracy. This so called Resistance can be characterized as a totalitarian-like movement that often operates outside of the boundaries of the law and often with little regard to common decency and fair play.

An element of hate, the politics of personal destruction and desperation pervade their drive to preserve power often with little regard of the possible long term consequences to our society of the use of these methods. The Resistance is dominated by the narcissism of its adherents. The end result of this type of campaign may turn out to be an end to the certainty of an American government of, by and for the people.

The wide spread discontent with direction of the country that was building across the land over the Obama years led to the election of Donald Trump as President. Candidate Trump offered a distinct set of policies that contrasted dramatically with the progressive and left leaning agenda of President Obama and Hillary Clinton. A massive dose of pure arrogance and what is currently being uncovered as overtly questionable and illegal actions by Obama and Clinton to rig the election in the Democrat’s favor created a sense of over confidence in their prospects of winning the election. Obama, Clinton and the Democrats were significantly out of touch with what most Americans expected from their government and the election of Donald Trump represented a complete repudiation of their brand of Progressive politics and all they represented.

Eight years of the Obama Administration’s progressive brand of government led to a continuing loss of trust by the American people in many of society’s leading institutions. The role of politics seems to play an increasing influence in the conduct in a wide array of our leading government, public and private institutions ranging from the Department of Justice, local police, sanctuary cities, Black Lives Matters and the promotion of Colin Kaepernick as a societal icon, Antifa, the media, sports and tech icons such as Amazon, Google and Facebook. The list goes on to include a myriad of cultural institutions such as Hollywood and Global institutions such as the United Nations. These days this list of disrepute seemingly has no end.

President Obama and his Administration with little effective opposition from the Republicans in Congress grew the power of Washington and the Federal Government exponentially over their eight years in power. This fortified a powerful and entrenched ruling elite specifically selected for their support of the Left and Progressive policies to grow inside and outside of government as power flowed increasingly to Washington while they increased their influence on the daily lives of the American people.

Our Founding Fathers created a Government in behalf of the people that attempted to balance powers between branches of Government and prevent the rise of tyranny. A major concern of the Founders was to prevent a Government dominated by a distinct set of elites that could threaten the rights and usurp the inherent power of the people and threaten the democratic foundations of our nation.

Our Federal Government by any objective measure has simply grown too large to be an effective agent for positive change or provide effective political management of our country. Reforming our oversized and dysfunctional Federal Government should be our nation’s number one priority. Trump did not run on a typical Republican platform promoting the policies of limited government. However, since assuming office Trump has delivered the biggest cut in government regulation since President Reagan.

This is an important first step in many that will need to follow to reduce the pervasive role of the Federal Government in all aspects of our daily lives. A downsized Federal Government with a more limited role in our country’s affairs will free the American people and provide them with the opportunity to create a more prosperous nation for all. On the other hand, our individual freedom will be diminished and our country will continue on the road to failure if President Trump is unable to reverse the power of our increasingly elitist, corrupt and out of touch permanent Government and the influence of members of the Deep State in our national political affairs.
