I recently paid a visit to my local neighborhood bookstore. Upon entering, I instantly gravitated to my favorite section which contains an assortment of biographies. The Biography section that day included distinguished works such as Ron Chernow’s Washington and Alexander Hamilton, David McCullough’s John Adams, David Herbert Donald’s Lincoln and Robert Dallek’s Franklin D Roosevelt. I also found in this section side by side with these books biographies of Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Michelle Obama and Joe Biden front and center and prominently displayed for sale.
It is standard operating procedure for many candidates for high office to publish a book chronicling their life stories and political views. “Dreams from My Father” by Barack Obama written in 1995 before his run for Illinois Senate and “The Audacity of Hope” as he ran for President are notable examples of these types of works. It is nearing two years before the 2020 Presidential election and it is clear by what I observed in my local bookstore that the Left leaning publishing industry is already focused on promoting potential Democratic candidates for the upcoming race for the White House. Their collective overriding objective is to take a prominent role in conjunction with leading Democratic candidates in the effort to defeat President Trump in the upcoming election.
The ideas presented in the books by Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren represent the move to the extreme Left of the political spectrum by them along with the majority of today’s Democrat politicians. Anti-American and anti-capitalist ideas form the basis of the current Democratic Party political agenda. A series of radical positions based on promoting identity politics, socialism, globalism, eliminating all fossil fuels, “Medicare for All”, post-term abortion, fighting for “social justice” and favoring open borders dominate the political discussion on the left.
Today’s Democratic candidates are leading a political movement that is geared to promote Socialism and a rise in tyranny in our country and a significant loss of freedom and control for Americans over their daily lives. Acting increasingly on the behalf of the Democratic Party and deeply aligned with them are a majority of the mass and social media, academia along with the entertainment and tech world.
Today their agenda is formulated by elite members of the groups mentioned above and passed along to Democratic politicians to advocate and attempt to implement. This partnership of progressive elites aligned with the increasingly left leaning Democratic Party has lost sight of representing the interests of and is truly out of touch these days with the average American citizen.
With the imposition of political correctness in our society, these same groups are working to eliminate many elements of free speech and expression and are attempting to suppress conservative and opposition thought in our country in overt and covert ways. Overall the key objectives of current Democratic Party policy are to undermine the foundations of our country as founded and replace our political system with one that imposes upon the American people a government that is empowered to be more involved in our lives to a degree that includes dictating our personal thoughts and actions. In essence, today’s Democratic Party is fighting for a second American Revolution dedicated to Socialism meant to overturn our original one.
Revolutions occur at many different types of inflection points in the histories of various countries. Intolerable oppression experienced by a nation’s people, failed leadership, the extreme lack of economic opportunity available for the masses and extremely unpopular wars are have been important causes in the past. It can be emphatically stated that none of these conditions exist in the United States today.
Most importantly, a major and everlasting strength of our form of government is that it has been designed to be mutable enough to make the necessary changes to address many our most pressing issues throughout our history. Why be so extreme as to support the overturn of our very form of government and our way of life? For example, the success of the Civil Rights movement was made possible by this ability for our political system to evolve over time.
Our society has reached a point in our history where we have created the most tolerant environment in the history of the world for minorities and groups in our society that previously were treated as second class citizens and deprived of the full rights of citizenship. Racial minorities, women, the LBTG community, religious minorities such as Jews and Muslims, etc. today legally and socially are accepted as integral parts of the greater community.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr in his famous “I have a Dream Speech” in Washington D.C. on August 1963 in the shadow of the Lincoln Memorial spoke on behalf of his dream for the nation as at large which his four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
Advocating identity politics and therefore reversing the good works of the Civil Rights movement, today leading Democratic politicians such as Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren are making being prejudiced against groups targeted by their party such as White males and observant Christians not only socially acceptable but mandatory and politically expedient. Fault lines between various groups in our society are being systemically exploited by Democrats to gain political advantage. The Democrats label themselves as Progressives. What is progressive about rekindling the practice of discrimination and promoting hate and often violence?
Why a rehash and strong public advocacy of old and failed ideas at this time by Democrats in our country when socialism is in retreat all over the world and populism is on the rise? The answer is that today’s Democratic Party seems to lack any new, substantive or innovative new ideas. Promoting Socialism is a familiar practice by many in the Democratic Party and periodically over the years it is recycled as it is today. It can be fairly stated that the primary objective of today’s Democrats is to seize power by extraordinary means rather than to solve problems by advocating practical and proven solutions.
In the very same biography section, I also located a new biography written by Andrew Roberts about Winston Churchill named “Walking with Destiny”. With great interest, I picked up this substantial one thousand page book and started to sort through it. Every page I glanced at was filled with details of a life lived every day to its fullest extent and portrayed a man that displayed leadership, advanced many ideas and wrote numerous books, lived a courageous life and ultimately saved the civilized world against the rise of Nazism and the totalitarian state.
The American system of government remains the foremost political system ever formulated by man and remains a beacon of hope for the world. What it requires on a periodic basis when it is in severely tested like today and faces formidable challenges is a dynamic leader to make the necessary changes to restore not over throw the system.
Trump is a proud patriot and a once in a generation leader who has the right mix of personal experiences of success who truly understands what makes America great and is working diligently every day to restore the fundamental reasons for our great success. These reasons are the traditions of limited government and the blessing of granting individual freedom and liberty for all. Above all, he is fighting for the vast majority of the American people that Washington has severely neglected in recent times.
I chose to purchase a copy of Churchill. Upon reading and learning more about Churchill, I began to recognize many similarities between him and President Trump. I have determined that the primary connection between the two is that Churchill was in his time and President Trump is in our time tirelessly dedicated to confronting and defeating totalitarian movements. Churchill defeated the Nazis and Trump today confronts the Democrats as they increasingly move left and promote Socialism.
